Tereza, Association for Environmental Education in Czech Republic (Middle
Europe) have celebrated the Earth Day from 1991.

The "main" Earth Day we had in weekend 15.-16.4.2000 in Prokopske Valey.
There were about 25 sites (or activities) for children from 3-99 years old.
Each site look simularly as you can see in shots. Several sites were
concentrated to cognition of nature and environmental problems and history
(for example: water animals, tree sickness, trip to prehistory, Can you
recognise animals, lichens, GPS, soil measurement, clouds, simulating play
BEO, cemetary of wastes etc.) several were creative. (for example:
ceramics, toys from wood, dolls from fleece..) There were also thatre
performance - group of children from primary school and some programe in
soldierly tent (we say hangar)- projections, discourses..) If you need more
detailed informations, please write me. The number of participants we
estimated about 3000-3500 persons. About 1500 childrens buid symbolical
price tickets (round carton with names of sites) and got rubber stamps at
the places with names of sites, where they did some activites. Children
like stamps. We have really perfect weather (sunshine) and I think the
action was suscefull. The organisator of action Daniel Roucka from Tereza
obtained about 45 persons for helping in single sites.

beo.jpg - BEO is old Celtic word and it mean "life". Beo is play about
solution of ecological problems.




had.jpg - had=snake . during observating of water animals we had found
grass snake. Children take animals (usually invertebrate) from Prokopsky
stream by nets and then observed them in microscop - microscop.jpg

could try put together lichen from green plants (I dont know its name in
English) and brown fungus.

is actor (the longhair boy) too.


We also celebrated the Earth Day in centrum of Prague (Czech Republic
capital) in April 20, 2000. There we provided several actions. The first
was "Rolling of Globe" in centrum. We had 3 meters average inflatable ball
- globe and children were rolling it from Hastalska street to the Old Town
Square and then to Prasna Gate. There was provided symbolical motion - the
ministers and children take Globe to their hands. About 60 children were in
costumes in disguise at the threatened animals (need preservation). At the
Old Town Square children met with 2 ministers! Minister of Environment of
the Czech Republic Milos Kuzvart and Minister of Education of CRep. Eduard
Zeman. Then both ministers and children and some journalists came to
Hastalska - our house "Labyrint" and there were little press conferencion.
Then we did trip by historical tram with Earth Day mottos and other
decoration.

The last action was benefiction performance in "Theatre in Dlouha Street"
in 20.April evening. We introduced there our organisation Tereza to
visitors of play "School is Base of Life" and visitors can try to do some
tests of their knowledges.
